Rob Mason - General Manager

Originally from London Ontario, Rob joined the Canadian P.G.A. in 1979 and earned his designation of Class A Professional in 1984. Rob is also a long time member of the Canadian Society of Club Managers and the National Golf Course Owners Association. Rob is a Taylor Made Staff player.

Rob's golf career began at the Highland Country Club in London Ontario where he served as both assistant and associate professional for C.P.G.A. Master Professional Mike Silver. After leaving Highland Country Club, Rob went on to become Head Professional and General Manager at Ridgetown Golf and Country Club and then C.P.G.A. Director of Golf at Pine Knot Golf and Country Club. Both clubs flourished under his direction.

Rob became the General Manager and Head Professional at Craigowan Golf and Country Club in 1998 and guided the Club through a long range planning process that included course improvements, the planning and construction of a new clubhouse, and the implementation of a new practice facility.

St.Thomas Golf and Country Club is ranked as the 46th best golf course in the country. The Club is home to the best golf academy and learning center in the area and annually hosts the Early Bird Men's Golf Tournament which has taken place since 1949. Rob has actively served on committees for the 2003 RCGA Future Links Championship, the 2005 RCGA Canadian Junior Championship and the 2009 Men's Ontario Amateur Championship.

Wade Beaudoin - Golf Course Superintendent

Wade joined the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club course maintenance team in 1997. Starting out as a labourer he worked through the ranks serving as the 2nd Assistant, Assistant Superintendent and finally as Golf Course Superintendent. He has held this position since 2006.
A Graduate of the Golf Course Technician Program at Lambton College and The University of Guelph's Turf Managers Short Course, Wade continues to further his education through seminars and Association events. In 2010 Wade completed the Business Foundations program at the prestigious Richard Ivey School of Business in London. Wade is an active member of the GCSAA, OGSA and GLAGS associations. He holds licenses as a Certified Landscape Exterminator, Certified IPM Agent, Chainsaw Certification and First Aid and CPR.

Micheal Long - Head Professional

Originally from Waterloo, Ontario, Michael Long started working in the golf business when he was twelve years old. He started out by picking range balls for Head Professional Gus Maue at Westmount Golf & Country Club in Kitchener, Ontario.

Michael became a member of the PGA of Canada while working for General Manager Danny Maue at Foxwood Golf & Country Club in 1997.  After leaving Foxwood he moved on to Westmount Golf & Country Club and served as an Associate Professional under  P.G.A. Head Professional Rob Strahan for twelve years.  In 2016 Michael started a new position of Associate Professional at Hamilton Golf & Country Club under Head Professional David Miller. 

Michael attended Wilfred Laurier University studying Economics and Georgian College studying Professional Golf Management and Business Administration. Michael has been a Taylor Made staff professional for last 14 years and completed his Level 5 Teaching & Coaching Certification Program for the PGA of Canada

Blaine Tye - Executive Chef

Blaine is excited to be returning for his second year as the Executive Chef at our club.  After the completion of a strong first season, he is looking forward to instituting more new menu items, updating existing ones, and keeping up the high quality of club favorites.

After spending several years honing his craft in London’s busy downtown core, Blaine made the move to the golf course culture in 2012 where he spent 5 years as the Sous Chef at Komoka’s Fire Rock Golf Club.  In addition to his 10 years of restaurant and hospitality experience, he also holds diplomas in Business and Nutrition Management from Fanshawe College.

Blaine’s number one priority will be ensuring the continued satisfaction of our members and providing a top quality dining experience.

Laura Ferris - Membership Services Coordinator

Laura is a long time St Thomas resident and is involved in the community as a figure skating coach.

Laura is at the front desk in the administration office and assists members with any questions regarding their accounts or member services, and also assists the Club with membership promotion. Laura is the Chair of the Club’s Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Tara Brisco - Accounting/Office Adminstration Manager

Tara was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario. She is a graduate from the Management Accounting program at Fanshawe College and currently lives in London. In her spare time, she keeps busy with her animal crew of 2 dogs and 2 cats, golfing and playing soccer. Very excited to join the St. Thomas Golf Club team and look forward to meeting all the members at this amazing course. Please stop by, introduce yourself and say hi.

Steve Perlman - Food & Beverage Manager

 

Please welcome  our new food and beverage manager Steve Perlman. Steve has been a manager at the Church Key Bistro in London for the last six years. He is a highly efficient and customer service oriented manager with 15 years of experience in the F/B business. Steve is a golfer and played his junior golf at Huron Oakes Golf and Country Club in Sarnia. Our Chef, Blaine Tye, has worked with Steve in the past and feels that Steve will be a great addition to the team here at Union.

“I am looking forward to meeting the membership here at this fantastic golf club and excited to work with Chef Blaine. I love to golf so I hope to play a few rounds with the members this season. My door is always open so please stop in and say hi.”

Steve is in transition with his current position, so he will be working a few shifts here at the Club in the next few weeks and will be starting full time June 18.
